To provide expertise in consultation, support the educational objectives of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology and this department, both intramurally and extramurally, and conduct research in diseases of the liver and gastrointestinal tract. The department is organized into two divisions, a center for special studies, and the office of the chairperson.
